TOO MANY OF US ARE HOLDING BACK THE BEST PARTS OF OURSELVES.
Life brings plenty of reasons to neglect our voices. If you’ve been rushing around, stalled in a constant state of busy, you know what I mean. But holding back who we really are requires a lot of energy. Joy passes us by. And the world is missing out on our best contributions. How might your world change if you brought your authentic self to the table more often?
YOUR VOICE IS IN THERE. LET’S CULTIVATE WAYS TO BRING IT OUT.
Let’s slow down a little. Let’s make some art. Let’s connect with our people. Let’s do the things we’ve been hemming and hawing about. Let’s cultivate our voices, so we can bring more care, connection, and creativity into the world. Yes, let’s let find out what happens when we let our voices resound.
IT BEGAN WITH A PAIR OF HOMEMADE MITTENS.
This is a journey I’ve been exploring since I started blogging. At first I wanted to record my craft projects. I loved the feeling of taking something tired, like a thrift-shop sweater, then giving it new life as mittens to cheer a winter day. Soon I discovered that the act of blogging brought healing and connection.
If you’re considering starting a blog, consider this an official nudge. Who knows what you’ll discover? Putting my voice out there also made me braver. The feeling seeped into my life in other ways. I become more open to possibility, less satisfied with things that held me back. Now, I’m on a mission to help empower you, too.
THERE ARE LOTS OF WAYS TO FIND YOUR VOICE. LET’S EXPLORE SOME TOGETHER.
There are plenty of tools for finding our voices. But it takes time to cultivate them. As I explore and document tools like podcasts, practices, and projects, I hope you can connect them to your life. Finding your voice can happen in ways big and small.
Here are some stories of how I’ve found mine. Each, in its own way, made me feel more vibrant. All made me easier to live with and prepared me to give more to my community. I hope these stories inspire you to go out there and make your own mark.
- Turn an Altoid tin into a Comfort box, rather than freezing up with awkwardness around a loved one who’s grieving.
- Invite a brand-new friend to a thrift shop, rather than missing out on an opportunity because you’re afraid of not being liked.
- Take a photo walk, rather than sit at home and let anxious thoughts spin ’round and ’round.
- Discover like-minded friends across the globe, rather than let your perfectionism keep you from blogging.
- Go on a quest to become an entrepreneur, rather than wonder, “What if?”
